Every school year starts the same. Kids spend loads of time playing outside all summer long. They’re free to run, dance, and move the way that young bodies should. But then the school year hits and BAM! – they’re suddenly chained to hard, uncomfortable desks and expected to sit still for seven or eight hours a day …And we wonder why students have a hard time paying attention?
In recent years, society has made considerable progress in shifting towards a much more sustainable state of existence. But we’re far from where we need to be. Recent environmental, social, and health concerns have made it obvious that further change is needed, and that sustainability is more important than ever before.
It’s been a while since we posted a blog about what we’re working on here at Supple, so we thought that we’d take this moment to fill you all in. The last few months have been extremely exciting for us. We’ve had the opportunity to work on some amazing projects for libraries, coworking offices, and makerspaces here in our local community, as well as a few out-of-state projects. But perhaps one of the projects that we’ve been most excited about is our work at KND Labs.
After $41 million and about 20 years of development, the Hunters Point Community Library in Long Island City is now finally complete and open to the public. Since the library opened its doors in September of this year, it has received an equal mixture of praise and criticism.
