Eloise May Library
Oz Architecture and Interior Environments designed the new space for the Eloise May Library. As part of the construction process, The Supple Collection was asked to produce the furniture. We created a set of custom service points based on our clients’ design plans. As the development of the library progressed, we provided ongoing support and services to prepare for the grand opening day.
The service points were placed in high traffic areas and acted as a focal point for the interior. Elegant, curved details and a clean, uniform design created a modern minimalist aesthetic. A cable management system and custom storage cabinet were created to keep the space organized and free of clutter.
We formed a strong collaborative partnership with Cameron Bowen, the Facilities Manager, and Holly Whelean, the Library Manager. Holly came to visit our shop at Battery 621 where she discovered our acoustic lights and asked us to make a similar set for the library. These were added to the computer lab to control the noise and create a quiet space.
Highly customized self-checkout stations were installed in the interior. These were designed to wrap around a support column in order to minimize the use of floor space.
After the grand opening, we were invited to return to the library to work on one of the conference rooms. Because of fire code regulations, the conference room had an open ceiling which prevented the area from being sealed off. Sound emanated from the room into the rest of the library. To resolve the issue, a slotted acoustic ceiling was created to control the noise.
We are grateful for our partners and Arapahoe Libraries for having provided us this opportunity to learn, grow, and give back to the community.
