The idea underpinning the Beehive is that librarians are looking to activate their spaces with fresh, interesting programming ideas. Todays libraries are meeting places – a forum for the presentation of interesting topics – a place where folks want to discuss and sometimes debate ideas. Libraries are more exciting places when this kind of activity is encouraged and planned for. Librarians are constantly looking for ways to create spaces that liberate natural, spontaneous conversations, as well as provide opportunities for presentations that although they are separated from the general flow of traffic are still integrated into the library atmosphere.
